What Is Decompression Therapy?

Decompression therapy is a type of nonsurgical treatment that uses a motorized traction to aid in relieving back, neck and knee joint pain.

How Does Decompression Therapy Work?

The non-invasive treatment works by gently stretching the spine which in return changes its force and position. This results in pressure being released off the spinal disks which are gel-like cushions between the bones of your spine. Decompression therapy creates a negative pressure so bulging or herniated disks can retract and take a load off the nerves and various structures in the spine. Ultimately resulting in movement of water, oxygen and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks to promote healing.

Here at Houston Regenerative Therapy we use the Triton DTS decompression system so that we can properly program the machine for each patient’s individual needs.

These procedures are invasive, often painful and may require the use of long-term heavy prescriptions. Our goal at Houston Regenerative Therapy is to help our patients avoid these types of surgeries and medications through non-invasive decompression treatments.

How Long Does Decompression Therapy Take?

Every patient is unique and the doctor will determine what settings and modalities the individual needs. Typically time spent on the decompression machine is about 25 minutes.
