What is A2M?

A2M, is a large protein molecule that plays a significant role in the body's defense mechanisms against proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins. It is primarily produced by the liver and found in the blood plasma.

What are the benefits of A2M?

1. Protease Inhibition:

A2M is a powerful inhibitor of various proteases, and other protein-degrading enzymes. By binding and sequestering these proteases, A2M helps prevent their harmful effects, such as tissue damage and degradation. This protease inhibition property of A2M is particularly relevant in conditions such as osteoarthritis and certain inflammatory diseases.

2. Anti-Inflammatory Effects:

A2M has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties. It can help regulate the immune response and reduce inflammation by influencing the production of inflammatory mediators and cytokines. This anti-inflammatory effect contributes to the management of inflammatory conditions and the promotion of tissue healing.

3. Cartilage Protection:

A2M has been studied for its potential to protect cartilage in joints. In conditions like osteoarthritis, A2M injections have been explored as a treatment option to inhibit cartilage degradation and preserve joint function. By inhibiting the activity of destructive enzymes that contribute to cartilage breakdown, A2M may help slow down the progression of joint damage and alleviate symptoms.

4. Tissue Repair and Regeneration:

A2M has shown promise in promoting tissue repair and regeneration. It can influence cellular processes involved in tissue healing, such as cell migration, proliferation, and extracellular matrix synthesis. A2M's ability to support tissue repair mechanisms makes it a valuable component in regenerative medicine.

How does Houston Regenerative Therapy use A2M?

A2M is becoming an integral part of our regenerative treatments and a complete biologics program for the restoration of joints, prevention of knee and other joint arthritis and the treatment of low back pain. In addition to A2M treatments for osteoarthritis, we use A2M injections as an adjunct to stem cell injections in order to optimize the environment and maximize the potential of stem cell therapy.
